About FSM

The Forum represents a people-led movement for reproductive, maternal & new-born health & rights. The organization concentrates its efforts on creating a Pakistan where all women & girls realize their right to quality health & well-being.

With more than 300 members across Pakistan, Forum is the only professional body in the country that brings together public health experts, women and youth activists, parliamentarians, academics, researchers, religious leaders and representatives from the media in a single platform to advance reproductive, maternal, newborn health and nutrition as well as gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment. Viewed as a neutral convener and a trusted partner of government and civil society alike, Forum has helped to redefine health advocacy from being primarily an evidence communication process to blending evidence with community voices and creating opportunities for direct engagement between policymakers and citizens—leading to more meaningful and enduring change. Forum for Safe Motherhood considers citizens as active stakeholders in the identification of policy and practice gaps as well as in holding leaders accountable for health delivery.

The Forum is a member of the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) which is a globally connected grassroots movement advocating for the health and rights of women and newborns. Comprised of diverse members in the tens of thousands, with national, sub-national and community chapters in 15 countries and a Global Secretariat based in Washington, DC, WRA is one of the largest and most effective global health coalitions in the world.
